For This Purpose!!
“For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” - 2 Cor. 5:14-15 NKJV
The crucifixion of Christ and resurrection of Christ are the greatest events of all of time. “The importance of all this cannot be adequately expressed in words. A dead Christ might have been a Teacher and Wonder-worker, and remembered and loved as such. But only a Risen and Living Christ could be the Saviour, the Life, and the Life-Giver – and as such preached to all men. And of this most blessed truth we have the fullest and most unquestionable evidence. We can, therefore, implicitly yield ourselves to the impression of these narratives, and, still more, to the realization of that most sacred and blessed fact. This is the foundation of the church, the inscription on the banner of her armies, the strength and comfort of every Christian heart, and the grand hope of humanity: ‘The Lord is risen indeed’” (Edersheim, Alfred, “The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah,” p. 906). In the New Testament preaching of the gospel there is always a presentation of both the crucifixion and the resurrection. The message of the resurrection as well as our continued study and appreciation of this sacred event is so vital to a vibrant and victorious faith. The Scriptures clearly state that if Christ is not risen we are still in our sins! There is no salvation without the resurrection of Christ. There is no hope for us in attaining eternal life without the resurrection. The resurrection of Christ assures us that we have been justified and released from our sins. We are no longer under satan’s sway but can live out of the victory provided so many years ago on a real hill and by a tomb that still stands empty.
The sweet victories of 2016 will far outweigh the trials and challenges of 2015.
