God wants to Abide!!!!
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” - John 15:7 NKJV
The early church moved in great demonstration of the power of God. Their faith was energized as they had encountered God in the flesh Who had died for their sins and rose again! Because of the tremendous transaction at Calvary, God could now indwell humankind. Paul throughout his epistles drives home the truth that not only was God alive but His desire was to live in union with and fill humanity. God’s plan was for redemption and residency. There are untold advantages and capabilities of this union! It is so vital that we not only believe this but receive this and engender a greater consciousness of the indwelling Presence of God. Additionally, He did not just come to live in us, He came to abide in us. The word “abide” throughout the New Testament carries the idea of dwelling and being at home. God wants to be at home in us! Home should conjure up images of close fellowship and daily living together as a unit. This is what God has designed for His people. Jesus taught often about this abiding and the coming indwelling of God in humanity through the Holy Spirit. We can't memorize it; we can't study enough; we have to learn to dance with God and this comes with time. It is the outflow of our fellowship and growing in our knowledge of His love and residence within us.
