The Condition of Our Hearts!
“Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.” - Matt 16:24-27 NKJV Jesus suffered tremendously to restore this crown of glory to us, but the war for our crowns is not over. At the end of His address to the church at Philadelphia Jesus gives them a solemn warning that they must contend and protect what they have. There is an enemy who is after what we have. This has always been his purpose to reach for and steal things that weren’t his. Satan reached for more than he was allotted and fell a great and unrecoverable distance. I believe he is still reaching for more today, specifically to tarnish the creation of God and seeking to destroy the image of God in man. We must be aware of the contention for our crowns. We must walk in the fullness of this position and authority as we contend for our crowns and to walk in our God-given identity. Our enemy truly desires to tarnish and if possible remove our crowns. There may be many ways in which he will seek to accomplish this but I believe his main target is our hearts. . If we are going to hold fast to our crowns we must learn to pay close attention to the condition of our hearts and monitor our spiritual temperature. Beloved we are going to have to fight for the condition of our hearts. . The way He came to show us is way of selflessness, a way of walking in heavenly realities here on earth, a way of victory and faithful endurance to the end. Jesus’ first call to His disciples is “Follow Me.” This is not just keeping to a path but following in function and fiery persistent passion. Jesus’ life of selflessness gained more than any other human life that walked upon this planet. If we are going to gain heaven’s crown we must take up the Master’s cross. He suffered for us not so that we could live in ease or comfort, but so that we could have the same victorious overcoming life that would gain a crown. He was pierced so that we could be prized – He wore our crown so that we could wear His. . We live in an age of distraction. Let us hold fast to what Christ has obtained for us and shun the chaff of lesser things! Let us take up the reproach of our Savior, the cross He is calling us to carry for truly there is a crown that we must hold fast to!!
