Jesus: Fully God & Fully Man!!
Salvation had come in a very personal way – for each individual expressly! Someone has come to rescue all men. Marking the event of God coming in the flesh was a vast array of heavenly movement. The coming of the Son of Man had been prophesied for centuries. The contemporaries of Isaiah could not have imagined that God Himself would veil His divinity with our humanity. However, this is exactly what was going to occur. God would take on human flesh. The Divine would become human. Purity and love would be housed in earthly dust. Glory would be veiled by flesh and blood and God would not only come to be with us – He would be one of us! One day in history a real baby was born with heavenly origins. A seed implanted in the womb of a virgin naturally developed and was born into this world without sin. This reality was what John wrote about. Imagine the awe that would dawn upon your heart in that you had walked with God and your humanity had touched and experienced God in human flesh! In essence John had touched Heaven – he had touched God Himself! - “We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us. We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.” - 1 John 1:1-4 - Heaven’s message and mission was the restoration of joy to the earth. And oh, how this restoration is still needed today! How we need a greater consciousness of the reality of Heaven’s presence among us. Heaven is not only a geographical location – it is a reality that we can enjoy here on earth right now. What if we believed Heaven was available to us right now on this side of death. Truly, what had been stolen through the fall and the ravaging effects of sin and the curse are overturned by God’s taking on our humanity so that we could take on His divinity. Just as Heaven beckoned that first generation to worship the new-born King, Heaven beckons us to worship and adore the One Who came to set us free from sin and death. He truly was born to die, born to rescue and redeem and release us from the captivity of the fall.More than just our voices lifted in song let our hearts encounter the Christ of Christmas. He’s not just a Baby in a manger; He’s the Messiah come to restore our identity and image to His own. - “He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)” – Eph. 4:10 NKJV - Does He have a place in our hearts and lives today? Don't allow the business and distractions of this day and age take away from the purpose of this powerful event that happened so long ago! It's life changing power is still as needed and meaningful today as it was then and even more!! Let us not lose sight of this and let us allow our hearts to be softened and changed to reflect Christ in our lives!
