Perspective Shapes our Reality!
We are part of a world system that is designed to squeeze us into a lower dimension than God’s vision for us. We were raised, trained, and educated in this world system….God’s perspective must be attained and maintained for us to be the powerful, love-carrying, hope-sharing, and grace-releasing representation of Him in the earth.
What if we saw people – all people, those we don’t like, approve of, or who have hurt us, through the lens of grace? What if we had God’s perspective of their intrinsic worth and inestimable value, as well as their unique giftedness so necessary for their part in fulfilling God’s Kingdom on the earth? Jesus sees people like this.
I often think about how Jesus interacted with the marginalized segment of society. He loved them…..believed in them….accepted them….challenged them to be who they were created to be. He didn’t see them for what they were doing wrong He saw them for who they were meant to be. He had the Father’s perspective.
We need to reprogram our thinking with His truth – the way He sees things and thinks about things. We can learn about this in the Scriptures. This is why Paul told us as believers that our minds needed transforming.
"With eyes wide open to the mercies of God, I beg you, my brothers, as an act of intelligent worship, to give him your bodies, as a living sacrifice, consecrated to him and acceptable by him. Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God re-mould your minds from within, so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets all his demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity. As your spiritual teacher I give this piece of advice to each one of you. Don’t cherish exaggerated ideas of yourself or your importance, but try to have a sane estimate of your capabilities by the light of the faith that God has given to you all." J.B. Our minds need re-moulding to be in alignment with God’s perspective, not only of ourselves but all those we are privileged to have the opportunity to encounter with God’s perspective.
Part of engaging in this process is to expose erroneous ways that we view things in ways that are contrary to the Word of God regarding:
1) Our selves
3) Our circumstances
4) The people around us and
5) Our world.
We must change the way we think and talk about ourselves – God – our circumstances, and our world. We are children of God therefore we ought to hold the perspective of our Father. He long for us to learn to view our lives from His perspective and bring His perspective into the environments of our lives. What if every person, every situation we encountered we took a step back to get God’s perspective before we reacted and we consciously chose to respond out of God’s perspective! What a difference believers could make in bringing God’s grace and His very Presence into our everyday lives!
Father, I need your perspective. Open my eyes to see the wonders of how you see so that I can carry your perspective into my world! I know you are granting me this as You long for your love and grace to be evidenced through my life!
